"To stay silent ...

... is to pour gas on the fire," writes Frank Rich in his latest New York Times column on John McCain allowing his supporters to ratchet up the inflammatory language toward Barack Hussein Obama. A must-read.

If, God forbid, something should ever happen to Obama because of the McCain campaign's rhetoric, wouldn't it be fair to say that it was because they incited their own form of domestic terrorism? I think putting the already brainwashed on spin cycle and making them think that Obama is in league with terrorists could cause some unbalanced wing nut to plan the unthinkable and he wouldn't be doing it to get Jodie Foster's attention. That is domestic terrorism, is it not? And should there ever come a day when we have to face that possible reality, those in the McCain campaign that orchestrated such acts, from the minds to the pitch persons, should all be held accountable and prosecuted.

With Obama as the future president, we as a society can prove that the Civil Rights era is now history and we are all one people, that we can transcend race. All of these character attacks on Obama, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, stem from the GOP's racism, and they know the attacks will play with the racists in their base. If McCain were running against Joe Biden as his presidential opponent, you would not see these types of attacks. If anything, the GOP would hang their hats on his plagarism from the late 80's.

What's next? Hey, that Claire McCaskill sure is an adamant supporter of Obama. Do you think they have something going on? Obama with a white mistress! It worked against Harold Ford in Tennessee and in his case it was also untrue.

McCain is running the most despicable campaign I have seen and it's a crying damned shame. There was a day when I thought highly of McCain and wished that he'd just do the right thing and go liberal. Now I wouldn't even want him going out to lunch with a liberal. I applaud him for correcting the toothless knuckledragger who called Obama and "Arab" at his rally and also for trying to calm down the pitchfork supporters but if you aren't stopping the rhetoric on the spot because you see the potential of danger then your doing nothing more than aiding and abetting future criminals. This really has to stop.
