This is the last word you'll hear on this site directly addressing the so-called "lipstick controversy", because it's stupid and it doesn't even REMOTELY relate to an issue, except that the GOP, once again, MUST run on persecution politics (both giving and receiving) instead of talking about REAL concerns.
Of course, John McCain is too much of a gentleman to use such language as "putting lipstick on a pig" when referring to a (yes, female) opponent's plans, right?
That was in October of 2007. I guess, since it refers to Hillary Clinton, it's okay. Hey, I'm not saying McCain's being a sexist or insulting Hillary Clinton directly. In fact, I kind of like the phrase. But, the phrase isn't the real issue here, is it? And, really, neither is the sexist angle because there was no sexism in what Obama said. Let's take a quick look at that (with a little bonus footage):
The REAL issue here is hypocrisy. You see, it's fine for not one, but TWO Republicans, to use that phrase (one of them in reference to a FEMALE opponent), but when Obama uses it in reference to John McCain's policies (he, by the way, didn't even mention Mrs. Palin), it's automatically some horrible slur that can be turned into GOP SLOP. Nice.
And, as we've said, this hypocrisy is pretty convenient when used as an attack strategy. It takes away the need to talk about something so unimportant as (spit) issues. You see, Repubs don't want to talk about the economy or foreign policy or education.
But, I'm sure, if the words "lipstick on a pig" are THAT divisive to McCain and his campaign, I'm sure he makes every effort to be a maverick and stamp out every instance of sexism he comes across on the campaign:
Oh...well...that was just a lost opportunity, I suppose. I mean, McCain would never SAY anything remotely sexist, right?
Wow, that's pretty embarrassing...
There is so much more to be said about GOP hypocrisy. And it will be forthcoming. For now, though, I leave you with some words of wisdom from the MAN who is wrongfully under fire:
